Aw, fuck man - that is a story and a half - took me longer to read the second half cause of the tears - beautifully written, thank you for putting it on paper - it's stories like that make you realise how lucky you are
This is a book that did not disappoint. Made me want to visit Sagebrush City. Loved it!
From the start of this book, I knew it was good, even though it's a world I know nothing about: social work, the desert, burnout in the helping professions. Cosley made me care so much about his people while laughing my ass off. I wish Cosley was in charge of the safety net for America!
I did not know social work noir was a thing, Cosley would probably tell you all social work was noir. Loved it!
In a different reality, where he became an involuntary case worker, Vonnegut could have written exactly what you wrote.
